Summary: The Lead CDN Engineer will be responsible for the implementation and configuration of Content Delivery Network (CDN) solutions across distributed systems, requiring extensive experience and flexibility for late-night releases. The role demands proficiency in multiple programming languages and a strong understanding of CDN technologies and performance optimization. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective integration and support for CDN solutions. This position is remote and classified as outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and configure CDN solutions at an enterprise level across distributed systems.
  • Provide 24/7 support and be flexible with scheduling for late-night releases.
  • Utilize programming/scripting languages such as GoLang, NodeJs, Python, and Java.
  • Maintain knowledge of CDN technologies including Akamai, Imperva, Fastly, CloudFront, and Cloudflare.
  • Build and maintain automation frameworks using tools like Python, Terraform, and GitOps.
  • Optimize and maintain CDN solutions to enhance content delivery performance.
  • Monitor CDN performance using tools like Grafana, Splunk, and New Relic.
  • Work on automation, on-call support, and troubleshooting for CDN systems.
  • Understand core networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, and load-balancing.
  • Implement and maintain Bot Manager and DNS configurations.
  • Optimize cache settings and security configurations within CDN.
  • Collaborate with developers, network engineers, and security experts.
  • Provide CDN solutions and recommendations to enterprise solution teams.
  • Support incident resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with security best practices and industry standards.
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience with Akamai CDN solutions.

  • Min 10+ years exp on implementation and configuration for CDN at the enterprise wide across distributed systems.
  • Must be flexible with the schedule as our CDN releases happen late at night. 24/7 support team is known to handle this well & work together in a way that if someone has a late night, they can have a later start that next day, etc..
  • Experience with two or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., GoLang, NodeJs, Python, Java )
  • Working knowledge in other in CDN areas such as :Akamai, Imperva, Fastly, CloudFront, Cloudflare etc.
  • API tools are important to have
  • Building and maintaining robust automation frameworks using tools like Python,Terraform, GitOps, or other scripting languages to manage CDN configurations.
  • Configure, optimize, and maintain CDN solutions like Akamai, Imperva, Fastly, CloudFront, Cloudflare etc. to enhance the content delivery performance.
  • Understanding of search engine and performance optimization on CDN solutions.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Akamai TrafficPeak , Grafana, Splunk / MS Sentinel / New Relic, Akamai Metadata Tracer, ability to understand metrics and impact to system performance, and ability to build dashboards and alerts to ensure system reliability.
