Summary: The Lead AIX/UNIX Systems Administrator will oversee patching and upgrade efforts for over 200 systems within a major US-based retail company. This role requires independent work and collaboration with project management to ensure system performance and security. The candidate will also be responsible for testing patches and upgrades in lab environments prior to production deployment. Strong expertise in AIX systems and related technologies is essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead patching and upgrade efforts for over 200+ AIX systems.
- Patch and upgrade UNIX operating systems and system software, providing hardware, backup and recovery, and system monitoring.
- Work independently and collaboratively with a group.
- Test patching and upgrades in lab environments to ensure compliance with application team requirements.
- Provide detailed server information to project management before and after patching/upgrades.
Key Skills:
- Shell scripting experience including ksh and bash.
- Knowledge and experience in using virtualized PowerVM technology.
- Experience with NIM (Network Installation Management) server technology.
- Familiarity with alt disks cloning within the AIX OS.
- Experience with Shared Storage Pools, VSCSI, NPIV, HMC, and LPM.
- Deep understanding of Unix concepts, bachelor's degree, and at least 5 years of experience in AIX.
- Familiarity with HPE Storage solutions.
