Summary: The Kubernetes Engineer role involves migrating on-prem Hadoop-based data and analytics capabilities to a Kubernetes-based infrastructure. The candidate will define a Kubernetes batch stack, review existing architecture, and assist in deploying the platform while addressing network, storage, and security issues. Strong experience in Kubernetes, particularly in large-scale infrastructure, is essential, along with multiple Kubernetes certifications. The position is fully remote and has a duration of 6 months, extendable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define a "Kubernetes batch" stack
  • Review the architecture of the existing Internal Kubernetes Platform (IKP) for component reuse
  • Assist in deploying the Kubernetes platform and building/testing automation scripts
  • Help debug network, storage, and security errors
  • Implement a secret management solution

Key Skills:

  • Min 3-4 years of hands-on Kubernetes experience
  • Experience with multiple Kubernetes distributions - at least 2 distros
  • Experience building and deploying clusters
  • Knowledge of GKE
  • Experience with data lakes/data warehousing
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes security
  • Able to navigate through CNI and CSI configurations/issues
  • Experience with Helm charts and Operators
  • Hands-on experience in containerizing applications (e.g., Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, Grafana)
  • Strong Linux skills including basic administration skills
  • Ansible and Terraform experience
  • Strong Kubernetes experience, including implementation and architecture
  • Familiarity with K8S, Spark, S3 Engine, Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD, Hadoop, Linux/RHEL
  • Experience with observability tools like Grafana or Elasticsearch
  • Knowledge of OpenTelemetry for observability
  • Experience with Argo
