Key Responsibilities:

  • Validate configurations for new installations, network changes, and software upgrades.
  • Support network health assessments of hardware and software during equipment installation.
  • Complete installation and validation tasks to ensure alignment with established guidelines and capabilities.
  • Assist in the creation of implementation, integration, and migration plans, and provide operational support during installations.
  • Troubleshoot network issues encountered during the installation process.
  • Provide ongoing, informal knowledge transfer related to Campus Switches.

  • Deliver ad-hoc written summary reports on equipment and network issues to the RE and VA Engineering staff.
  • Contribute technical input to major service outage root cause analyses and corrective action reports.
  • Follow installation procedures and test plans, and document results for sharing with VA Networking staff and the RE.
  • Serve as a configuration expert on the proposed campus equipment.
  • Interpret and create network diagrams as needed.
  • Adhere to established operations and support procedures.
  • Respond to and resolve technical issues via the VA MS Teams support channel during installations.
  • Provide input to and follow implementation plans for equipment migrations.
  • Execute scripted migration procedures during installations.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the configuration and implementation of Campus Switches integrations with related systems (e.g., IPAM, LiveAction, ISE, Palo Alto, Server/Core Switches).
  • Provide remote support when not on travel.
