This role requires fluent English, strong communication skills and the ability to think beyond execution. You’ll need to understand why a design is being created, who it is for, what message it needs to communicate, and how it supports the client’s commercial goals.

Employment Type: Contract-to-hire, with intent to convert to full-time

About Ladder Ladder builds outsourced digital growth teams for some of the most ambitious companies in the world. We partner with high-growth startups and global brands to solve complex growth problems by embedding strategy, performance marketing, creative and technology into a single integrated team. Our teams operate as an extension of our clients’ businesses, combining strong strategic thinking, digital execution and creative problem-solving to help brands grow in modern performance environments. Ladder is a creative-powered growth marketing agency focused on strategic digital marketing and data-driven creativity. As our client work continues to grow in scale and complexity, we’re looking for a Junior/Midweight Digital Designer who can help us produce high-quality creative work, support fast-moving client needs and grow into a stronger creative contributor over time.

The Role We’re hiring a Junior/Midweight Digital Designer to join our growing team. This role sits at the intersection of digital design, performance creative and marketing execution. You’ll work closely with strategists, copywriters, marketers and senior designers to create assets that are visually strong, strategically aligned and built for real-world campaign use. You’ll be expected to work strategically, not just produce assets. That means understanding briefs, asking smart questions, thinking about the audience, interpreting feedback properly and making design decisions that support the campaign objective. You’ll be responsible for producing design work across digital channels, adapting creative concepts into different formats, supporting campaign iteration and maintaining a high level of visual quality across client deliverables. This is a strong fit for someone with good visual taste, strong attention to detail, fluent English and a genuine interest in how design contributes to marketing performance. You do not need to be a senior designer, but you do need to be commercially aware, proactive, organised, comfortable communicating clearly, and able to improve quickly through feedback.

Contract-to-Hire Structure This role will start as a contract engagement, with clear intent to convert into a full-time role. We are looking to make a permanent hire, but we want to find the right candidate and validate the role through real client work before making a long-term commitment. We believe the best way to do that is by working together in practice first. The initial contract period will be hands-on and embedded in live projects, focused initially on one key Health Tech client. If there is a strong mutual fit, the intention is for the role to become full-time.

What You'll Do Create visually appealing digital assets for one key Health Tech client initially, including paid social ads, display ads, email assets, landing page sections, website banners and campaign creative. Support senior designers, creative strategists and marketers by turning briefs, brand guidelines and creative concepts into polished design assets. Think strategically about each design task, including the audience, message, channel, objective and commercial goal behind the work. Adapt existing design directions into new formats, sizes and variations for different platforms, audiences and placements. Help produce creative iterations based on performance learnings, audience insight and client feedback. Design with sensitivity to the Health Tech category, where clarity, trust, accessibility and credibility matter. Collaborate with the Strategy team to understand project requirements, campaign objectives and target audiences. Work with copywriters to make sure visual and written content feel aligned, clear and on-brand. Maintain brand consistency while learning how to flex creative for different audiences, messages and campaign goals. Support the development and maintenance of design standards for digital marketing campaigns. Take feedback from senior team members and clients, then use it to improve your work quickly and constructively. Manage assigned design tasks, stay organised and meet deadlines in a fast-paced remote environment. Use project management tools such as ClickUp to track your work and communicate progress clearly. Communicate clearly in fluent written and spoken English with internal team members and, where appropriate, clients. Stay up to date with design trends, digital marketing creative, AI tools and emerging technologies. Gradually build your ability to explain design decisions in internal reviews and, where appropriate, on selected client calls. Use quieter working periods to develop your design skills, improve your craft and learn from stronger creative examples. Over time, as the role grows, you may have the opportunity to support additional Ladder clients across different industries.

Who This Role is For This role is for someone who: Has 2–4 years of experience in a design role, freelance work, agency environment or a strong portfolio demonstrating relevant digital design ability. Speaks and writes fluent English, with the ability to communicate clearly with internal teams and, where needed, clients. Can think strategically about design, not just visually — understanding the audience, message, channel and business objective behind the work. Has experience creating digital assets for social media, paid ads, email, landing pages or websites. Is proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Has experience with Figma, Canva or similar design tools. Has good visual taste and a willingness to keep improving. Has strong attention to detail. Can take feedback well and turn it into stronger work. Is organised, reliable and able to manage multiple tasks at once. Is comfortable working in a fast-paced remote environment. Is curious about digital marketing, performance creative and how design can influence results. Is proactive, adaptable and willing to learn from senior designers, strategists and marketers. Understands that great design is not just about aesthetics — it also needs to support clear communication, audience relevance and commercial goals. Cares about both quality of thinking and quality of execution.

Nice To Have Experience in an agency environment. Experience designing for Health Tech, healthcare, wellness or mission-led brands. Familiarity with AI tools for design, image generation or creative production. Basic understanding of digital marketing creative and performance testing. Interest in user journeys, audience segmentation and conversion-focused design. Familiarity with project management software such as ClickUp. Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS or landing page design principles. Experience working across both B2B and B2C brands. Experience presenting or explaining creative work to internal teams or clients.

Who This Role is Not For Designers who need every decision made for them before they can start. Designers who only want to execute tasks and are not interested in the strategy behind the work. Designers who struggle to communicate clearly in English. Designers who only want to work on brand identity and not digital marketing execution. Designers who struggle to take feedback or iterate quickly. People who need every task to be fully defined before they can make progress. Designers who are not comfortable working at pace across multiple asset types. People who do not enjoy collaborating with strategists, marketers and copywriters. Designers who are not interested in how creative work performs in the real world. Anyone who struggles to balance visual quality with deadlines, ownership and commercial focus.

Why Join Ladder? You’ll work on meaningful growth challenges for ambitious startups and global brands. You’ll collaborate with a talented team spanning strategy, paid media, creative and AI-enabled systems. You’ll have the opportunity to build your design skills through real client work. You’ll work in a fully remote environment with flexibility and room to grow. You’ll be part of a team that values strong thinking, sharp execution and measurable impact. You’ll get exposure to how strategy, creative, media and performance data work together. You’ll have the opportunity to grow from a junior/midweight designer into a stronger long-term creative contributor.

How To Apply Apply via LinkedIn with your CV and portfolio or examples of relevant design work. We care less about polished credentials than we do about strong visual instincts, attention to detail, clear communication and evidence that you can create thoughtful digital design work. Please include examples that show how you approach digital design, campaign creative, landing pages, paid social assets or other relevant marketing materials.
