Summary: This role is for a Java Software Engineer on a 6-month contract, focusing on building and operating Back End services for financial data platforms. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality, compliant services. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build and maintain Back End services primarily using Java and Spring Boot
- Develop APIs and data processing services that deliver accurate and timely financial data
- Work with relational databases, including writing and optimising SQL queries
- Contribute to the deployment, monitoring and operation of services in AWS-based production environments
- Support SOX and GDPR compliance through strong engineering practices, documentation and observability
- Participate in code reviews, pairing and knowledge sharing within a cross-functional team
- Help diagnose and resolve production issues, contributing to root cause analysis and long-term fixes
Key Skills:
- Strong professional experience developing Back End systems using Java and Spring Boot
- Experience working with financial or highly regulated data environments
- Solid understanding of AWS and cloud-native application development
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases, ideally SQL Server
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, containerisation and Kubernetes
- Experience working in DevOps-oriented teams with end-to-end service ownership
- Awareness of regulatory requirements such as SOX and GDPR, or a strong willingness to work within regulated environments
- Clear communication skills and experience working closely with non-engineering stakeholders
