Summary: This role is for a Java Software Engineer on a 6-month contract, focusing on building and operating Back End services for financial data platforms. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build and maintain Back End services primarily using Java and Spring Boot
  • Develop APIs and data processing services that deliver accurate and timely financial data
  • Work with relational databases, including writing and optimising SQL queries
  • Contribute to the deployment, monitoring and operation of services in AWS-based production environments
  • Support SOX and GDPR compliance through strong engineering practices, documentation and observability
  • Participate in code reviews, pairing and knowledge sharing within a cross-functional team
  • Help diagnose and resolve production issues, contributing to root cause analysis and long-term fixes

Key Skills:

  • Strong professional experience developing Back End systems using Java and Spring Boot
  • Experience working with financial or highly regulated data environments
  • Solid understanding of AWS and cloud-native application development
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases, ideally SQL Server
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, containerisation and Kubernetes
  • Experience working in DevOps-oriented teams with end-to-end service ownership
  • Awareness of regulatory requirements such as SOX and GDPR, or a strong willingness to work within regulated environments
  • Clear communication skills and experience working closely with non-engineering stakeholders

This role sits within a newly formed engineering team focused on building and operating Back End services that prepare and deliver high-quality financial data into enterprise finance systems. You will play a key role in designing, building and running reliable, compliant services while working closely with engineering, finance, product and compliance stakeholders.
