Summary: The role is for a mid-level Back End engineer specializing in Java, focused on developing scalable distributed systems within a collaborative environment. The position involves working closely with engineers and product managers to enhance capabilities in the conversion area. The candidate will contribute to the design and implementation of Back End systems on Google Cloud Platform. This is a fully remote position classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with our squad and key internal partners to determine how to design scalable Back End systems, data models and APIs that run on Google Cloud Platform.
- Develop and operate Java services that serve our users through our content platform which enables marketing operators and other internal squads to work efficiently.
- Work with seniors and staff engineers and act as a strong executor against the squad vision.
- Contribute in an autonomous, cross-functional agile squad, in close collaboration with other squads.
- Collaborate with other engineers and product managers to identify and solve challenging problems, to successfully scale our automation and platformisation work to enable a more user-focused conversion experience.
Key Skills:
- You have 5+ years of working experience as a Backend Engineer working with Java.
- Additional tools and technologies such as gRPC, GCP, BigQuery and Bigtable are a plus.
- You have strong computer science fundamentals and previous experience building Back End services at scale.
- You have experience in designing, implementing, and scaling cloud-native software components on providers such as GCP, AWS, etc.
- You have experience working directly with stakeholders to understand, document and develop APIs and systems to meet their requirements.
- You are comfortable working collaboratively on cross-functional teams and independently driving complex delivery initiatives.
- You have written distributed, high-volume services and know how to deploy and keep them running in production.
- You have a growth mindset and are passionate about your work, striving towards the team's and company's goals.
