Summary: The role of Java Developer involves designing, developing, and maintaining secure applications for a government contract, specifically targeting UK-based contractors. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable applications using Java/JEE, JSP, and associated web technologies
- Contribute to system architecture, technical design, and coding standards
- Develop and maintain dynamic, interactive web interfaces using JSP and HTML
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, and defect resolution
- Support production systems and deliver enhancements in an agile delivery environment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including analysts, testers, and stakeholders
Key Skills:
- Strong commercial experience with Java, JavaServer Pages (JSP), and Java EE
- Solid understanding of web technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Familiarity with servlet-based architectures and MVC frameworks
- Experience with relational databases and SQL
- Exposure to secure coding practices and working within public sector or government environments
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and documentation skills
