Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process for Network & Data Centre services.
  • Oversee three specific procurements: Data Centre & Firewall infrastructure, SD-WAN services, and Managed LAN services.
  • Deliver major procurements under significant time pressure.
  • Utilize public sector frameworks for procurement, including CCS or similar frameworks.
  • Secure approval for significant IT spend through governance boards.
  • Translate technical requirements between teams and procurement processes.

Key Skills:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Network/Data Centre Procurement.
  • Proven track record managing multiple concurrent procurement exercises.
  • Experience delivering procurements under time constraints.

Interim IT Procurement Consultant needed for the end to end delivery of a procurement of Network & Data Centre for a Local Authority. Role will be for up to 18 months, on a 3 day a week basis, Outside IR35. Role can be on a fully remote basis, need to be able to work autonomously and be up to speed on Procurement 2023 Act.

3 procurements needed:

  • Lot 1: Data Centre & Firewall infrastructure
  • Lot 2: SD-WAN services
  • Lot 3: Managed LAN services

Experience needed:

  • Network/Data Centre Procurement: Minimum 3-5 years procuring complex network infrastructure or data centre services (not just hardware, but managed services)
  • Multi-Contract Management: Proven track record managing 3+ concurrent procurement exercises successfully to completion
  • Time-Critical Delivery: Evidence of delivering major procurements under significant time pressure (especially where deadlines were contract-driven)
  • Public Sector Frameworks: Hands-on experience using CCS or similar frameworks, including direct awards and competitive tenders
  • Spend Control Navigation: Experience securing approval for significant IT spend (£1M+) through governance boards
  • Technical-Commercial Translation: Demonstrable ability to work between technical teams and procurement processes, translating requirements effectively
