Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, draft, and edit technical documentation for IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Create Network/Infrastructure Architecture diagrams, Dataflow diagrams, and Process diagrams.
  • Draft Business continuity recovery procedure documents using knowledge of relevant systems.
  • Maintain and update documentation as features and operational procedures change.
  • Participate in disaster recovery assessments to review and update recovery procedure documents.
  • Collaborate with various IT departments to understand systems for documentation purposes.

We are hiring a Technical Writer to own the mapping, drafting, and upkeep of our IT infrastructure and disaster recovery documentation. If you have a knack for building clear dataflow diagrams and process documents, and you thrive on collaborating with diverse IT teams to set the gold standard for documentation, this role is for you.

responsibilities:

As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for planning, developing, drafting, and editing technical documentation to depict and communicate the physical and logical aspects of stand-alone IT systems, integrated systems, and their associated infrastructure. Your responsibilities will be to craft documentation that includes, but is not limited to:

  • Network/Infrastructure Architecture diagrams
  • Dataflow diagrams
  • Process diagrams
  • Business continuity recovery procedure documents (Operational Recovery Documents) using detailed knowledge of the relevant systems and their integrations
  • Maintaining and updating documentation as new features are enabled, when additional integrations are established, and when operational procedures change
  • Participating in disaster recovery assessments to review and update IT systems recovery procedure documents as required

This process will require collaborating with departments across IT and across the organization to develop an in-depth understanding of IT systems as a base for producing required documentation that conforms to established company standards.

qualifications:

3+ years of experience in technical writing in an enterprise IT environment

Technical understanding of enterprise software, server platforms, network infrastructure and software-as-a-service (SaaS)

Demonstrated experience in applying subject-matter and organizational expertise in an IT enterprise to produce technical documentation

Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss IT technical concepts, including but not limited to server and desktop operating systems, virtualization platforms, firewalls and DMZ's

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Proficient in Microsoft computer applications to include Visio

Preferred:

Basic understanding and experience with Agile SCRUM methodologies
