Summary: The role of Technical Category Manager focuses on leading technology sourcing and supplier governance for a major UK bank's transformation programme. This position emphasizes commercial negotiations and managing complex technology suppliers rather than delivery project management. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in strategic sourcing and vendor governance within a banking or highly regulated environment. The role is remote with occasional requirements in London.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead sourcing across software, SaaS, cloud, cyber & infrastructure
  • Drive commercial negotiations and deliver value
  • Manage complex technology suppliers (SLAs, KPIs, governance)
  • Partner with Technology, Cyber, Architecture & Legal
  • Ensure regulatory, InfoSec and data protection compliance
  • Support procurement activity across a major banking transformation

Key Skills:

  • Strong technology category expertise
  • Proven strategic sourcing & negotiation experience (£multi-million contracts)
  • Experience in software licensing negotiations
  • Knowledge of SaaS commercial models (subscription, consumption-based)
  • Familiarity with cloud agreements (AWS/Azure/GCP frameworks)
  • Experience with Enterprise Agreements and multi-year transformation procurement
  • Vendor/supplier governance in complex environments
  • Banking or highly regulated sector experience preferred
  • Understanding of technology risk, cyber resilience and data protection considerations
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders across Technology, Cyber and Legal
  • Experience working alongside Systems Integrators

Technical Category Manager (Technology Sourcing & Vendor Governance) – Remote/London - 6 Months++ - Banking Transformation Programme

A major UK bank is delivering a large-scale technology transformation, including a new core banking platform and next-gen ecosystem. We’re hiring an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead technology sourcing and supplier governance activity across the programme. This is NOT a Delivery Project Manager role, it’s commercially focused and transformational driven.

The role:

  • Lead sourcing across software, SaaS, cloud, cyber & infrastructure
  • Drive commercial negotiations and deliver value
  • Manage complex technology suppliers (SLAs, KPIs, governance)
  • Partner with Technology, Cyber, Architecture & Legal
  • Ensure regulatory, InfoSec and data protection compliance
  • Support procurement activity across a major banking transformation
