Interim Rent and Service Charge Operations Manager

Posted 1 day ago by Robertson Bell

Are you an experienced Social Housing rents professional with strong knowledge of the Rent Standard and annual rent-review process? Have you led a significant rent-setting exercise and managed a team responsible for complex rent and property data? Are you available for a 12-month maternity cover contract?

Robertson Bell is recruiting a Rent & Service Charge Operations Manager to join a major Social Housing organisation on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The immediate priority will be leading the organisation’s annual rent-review process, coordinating the data, calculations, controls and stakeholders required to ensure rents are accurately reviewed and implemented.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and coordinating annual and in-year rent reviews.
  • Ensuring rents are calculated and implemented in line with the Rent Standard and relevant legislation.
  • Maintaining the accuracy and integrity of rent, property and customer-charge data.
  • Overseeing key regulatory reporting, including the Statistical Data Return.
  • Managing the processes and controls supporting rent and property administration.
  • Leading and supporting an established team of rent and service charge colleagues.
  • Working closely with Finance, Housing, Income and other operational teams to ensure key deadlines are met.

This is more heavily focused on rent setting and rent-review delivery than traditional service-charge accounting; service charge estimate-setting and reconciliations sit elsewhere within the wider team.

The role offers highly flexible working arrangements, and fully remote can be considered for a well-suited candidate. The successful candidate should ideally be able to start by late October / early November to allow for a meaningful handover ahead of the key January rent-review period.

To be considered, please meet these criteria:

  • Strong Social Housing rent-setting or rent-review experience.
  • Good technical knowledge of the Rent Standard and formula rents.
  • Experience managing a significant operational process with multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
  • Strong data-management and analytical skills.
  • Previous team-management experience.
  • SDR or wider regulatory-return experience would be highly advantageous.

Applications will be reviewed as they are received, so please apply ASAP if this opportunity is of interest.
