Summary: The role of Interim Systems Accountant involves a 6-month contract focused on reviewing and improving finance systems for a charity in London. Key Responsibilities:

  • Review current finance systems, processes, and reporting needs
  • Define system requirements with Purchasing, IT, and other teams
  • Manage procurement, vendor evaluation, and selection
  • Build the business case and secure leadership approval
  • Lead project planning, timelines, budgets, and risks
  • Act as main contact with implementation partners
  • Oversee configuration, migration, testing, and go-live
  • Ensure integration with related systems
  • Develop training and support change management across teams

Key Skills:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Strong understanding of the Charity SORP
  • Strong experience leading an end-to-end implementation of a finance system within a nonprofit organisation
  • Experience in training or guiding others effectively on the use of financial systems and the application of financial procedures
  • Experience in proactively identifying and implementing improvement changes in systems/processes or continuous improvements within the Service
  • Assertive and strong communication skills with excellent listening skills together with persuasive analytical skills
  • Good understanding of the technical operations of a Financial Management system, particularly of a General Ledger system and its interfaces with other systems
