Summary: The role of Interim Energy Officer involves providing specialist energy and sustainability support to a Local Council on a fully remote, 6-month contract basis. Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the delivery of corporate energy activities across electricity, gas, and heat networks
  • Monitoring, validating, and analysing energy consumption and utility data
  • Producing energy reports to identify cost, consumption, and carbon reduction opportunities
  • Supporting compliance with energy and environmental legislation
  • Contributing to climate change, sustainability, and net-zero programmes
  • Providing technical advice and responses on energy-related queries across council services
  • Supporting energy efficiency, retrofit, and decarbonisation projects across council buildings
  • Preparing reports, audit responses, and information for regulatory submissions and FOI requests

Key Skills:

  • Substantial experience working in UK local authority energy roles
  • Background in roles such as Energy Officer, Principal Energy Officer, Energy & Sustainability Officer, or Compliance Officer
  • Strong understanding of local authority energy compliance and reporting obligations
  • Proven experience working with large and complex energy datasets
  • Ability to work independently in an interim environment with minimal supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Salary (Rate): £340.00/daily

About the Role

A Local Council is seeking an experienced Interim Energy Officer / Principal Energy Officer to provide specialist energy and sustainability support on an interim basis. This fully remote role is suited to a local government professional with strong technical knowledge of energy compliance, monitoring, and reporting, who can work independently and contribute immediately. The role supports the Council's energy, cost control, and carbon reduction objectives across corporate and housing assets.

Key Responsibilities
