Summary: The Interim Category Manager – FM Procurement role is a critical position within a FTSE 100 Facilities Management Organisation, focusing on stabilising a high-profile FM contract in a complex environment. The role requires a delivery-focused individual with expertise in both Soft and Hard FM categories to implement performance management systems and drive efficiencies. The successful candidate will work closely with various stakeholders across UK & Ireland operations to ensure compliance and service continuity. This position is remote with travel requirements and classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the supply chain completes all outstanding planned and reactive maintenance across the estate.
- Implement a contract-level performance management system for the supply chain, including KPIs, reporting, governance, and escalation.
- Review and challenge the scope of works across suppliers to drive efficiencies, eliminate duplication, and optimise delivery for Year 2 of the contract.
- Develop and execute short- to medium-term category strategies aligned to contract and transformation objectives.
- Lead sourcing and re-tendering activity across priority Hard and Soft FM categories.
- Deliver clearly defined savings and value improvements while maintaining compliance and service continuity.
- Manage subcontractor performance across complex, multi-vendor environments.
- Leave behind robust governance, documentation, and repeatable frameworks for BAU teams.

An exciting interim opportunity has arisen within a FTSE 100 global leader in Facilities Management, as part of a major procurement and contract stabilisation programme. This role supports a recently mobilised, high-profile FM contract operating within a highly complex, security-sensitive environment . The organisation is seeking a delivery-focused interim who can bring immediate control, structure, and commercial rigour to a critical FM supply chain.
Role Overview
As Interim Category Manager – FM , you will act as the subject matter expert across a high-value FM portfolio covering:
- Soft FM: Catering, Cleaning, Waste Services
- Hard FM: Engineering & Building Services, Fit-Out, Construction, and related CapEx activity
You will work across UK & Ireland operations, partnering closely with operational, commercial, and security stakeholders to stabilise performance and prepare the contract for its next phase.
Key Interim Objectives & Deliverables
The successful contractor will be accountable for the following time-critical outcomes :
- Ensuring the supply chain completes all outstanding planned and reactive maintenance across the estate
- Implementing a contract-level performance management system for the supply chain, including KPIs, reporting, governance, and escalation
- Reviewing and challenging the scope of works across suppliers to drive efficiencies, eliminate duplication, and optimise delivery for Year 2 of the contract (from May 2026)
- Developing and executing short- to medium-term category strategies aligned to contract and transformation objectives
- Leading sourcing and re-tendering activity across priority Hard and Soft FM categories
- Delivering clearly defined savings and value improvements while maintaining compliance and service continuity
- Managing subcontractor performance across complex, multi-vendor environments
- Leaving behind robust governance, documentation, and repeatable frameworks for BAU teams
Required Interim Profile
Strong procurement background with deep FM category expertise (e.g. lifts, fire & security, water treatment, electrical wholesalers, engineering services)
Proven experience operating in interim, mobilisation, or turnaround roles
Track record of managing subcontractors across both Hard and Soft FM
Comfortable working within high-security, regulated, or sensitive environments
Experienced in national category strategy development and complex negotiations
Highly commercial, delivery-led, and able to operate with minimal onboarding
