Interaction Designer

Summary: We are seeking an experienced SC-cleared Interaction Designer to support the delivery of high-quality digital services within the Public Sector for a leading digital transformation organisation. The role involves leading interaction design activities, contributing to service strategy, and mentoring other designers while ensuring alignment with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards. The position is remote and requires SC security clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead interaction design activities within multidisciplinary teams.
• Contribute to service strategy and transformation roadmaps.
• Mentor other designers and provide constructive feedback.
• Ensure solutions meet user needs and technical constraints.
• Advocate for user-centred and inclusive design principles.
• Facilitate workshops and collaborative service design.
• Create accessible, responsive, and usable interfaces.
• Interpret user research and translate insights into design solutions.
• Develop sketches, concepts, and prototypes at multiple fidelities.
• Build interactive prototypes using the GOV.UK Prototyping Kit.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Key Skills:

• Proven experience delivering interaction design within the UK Public Sector and GDS environments.
• Strong advocacy for user-centred and inclusive design principles.
• Ability to coach and mentor designers, providing constructive feedback.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and facilitation skills.
• Expertise in creating accessible, responsive, and usable interfaces.
• Workshop facilitation and collaborative service design experience.
• Strong understanding of technical constraints and their impact on design.
• User research interpretation and translating insights into design solutions.
• Sketching, concept development, and prototyping at multiple fidelities.
• Experience building interactive prototypes using the GOV.UK Prototyping Kit.
• Comfortable working within multidisciplinary teams (policy, product, delivery, UCD, technical).
• Experience contributing to service strategies and transformation roadmaps.
