Summary: The role of Instrumentation Engineers & Designers involves developing instrumentation design documents for power generation facilities across Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and possess relevant engineering qualifications and experience. The position requires some travel and offers remote working options. Responsibilities include producing engineering drawings and providing technical direction for design activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop instrumentation design documents for power generation facilities.
- Produce engineering drawings, specifications, and material requirements to facilitate construction, operation, and maintenance of electrical power systems.
- Provide technical direction, oversight, and Quality Assurance reviews for detailed design activities.
- Assist in the evaluation and purchase of instrumentation equipment.
- Prepare material take-offs for cost estimates and material procurement.
- Review vendor design documents to ensure conformance to design requirements.
- Coordinate work with other disciplines, clients, suppliers, and contractors.
- Provide on-site support during construction, startup, and checkout.
- Develop scope definition documents and estimates.
- Provide schedule inputs.
Key Skills:
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution/program (Engineer position only).
- Instrumentation and control system design and/or engineering experience, preferably within heavy industrial facilities or new construction projects.
- Experience developing instrumentation and controls system design including instrumentation datasheets, installation details, loop sheets, location drawings or 3D model representation, instrument indexes and lists, and editing P&IDs.
- Experience with scope development, schedule input, material takeoffs, and fabrication drawing review.
- Experience with gas combined cycle, coal powered, hydro plants, and freeze protection designs is a plus.
- Proficiency in AutoDesk Suite and Microsoft Office; 3D modelling experience preferred.
- Customer focused with a willingness to meet the needs of customers.
- Control system theory experience preferred.

We have multiple opportunities for Instrumentation Engineers & Designers at a top utility in the US. These roles will be responsible for developing instrumentation design documents for power generation facilities across Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. Will require some travel (day & overnight, up to 25%) and ability to work remote/virtual.
Qualifications:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution/program is required (Engineer position only not Designer role).
