Summary: The Independent Data Warehouse/Data Mart Assurance Lead will play a crucial role in assessing and ensuring the integrity of the RADAR data warehouse environment within a major NHS Oracle Cerner programme. This senior, hands-on position involves auditing data marts, validating reporting readiness, and developing recovery plans to address delivery risks. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in Oracle Cerner data structures and NHS data warehousing, along with strong SQL skills. The role requires effective collaboration with various teams to ensure operational and strategic reporting needs are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake an independent audit of the RADAR data warehouse, reviewing each data mart/feed individually to assess current status, completeness, and reporting readiness.
- Produce detailed mart-by-mart assessments outlining:
- What has been delivered
- What remains outstanding
- What is partially complete
- What has not yet started
- Validate whether marts are fit for reporting use, including:
- Data completeness
- Field availability
- Mappings and transformations
- Alignment to business definitions
- Identify and document key blockers impacting reporting delivery, including:
- Missing data items
- Incomplete mappings
- Unclear business logic
- Data quality issues
- Upstream dependencies
- Review the current warehouse delivery approach and provide an evidence-based recovery plan with realistic sequencing, priorities, dependencies, and delivery assumptions.
- Work collaboratively with BI/reporting, testing, supplier, and programme teams to align technical warehouse status with operational reporting requirements.
- Produce a credible re-baselined plan to support revised reporting, testing, and go-live timelines.
- Provide clear assurance and risk reporting to programme leadership, highlighting where current delivery dates are not evidence-based.
Key Skills:
- Significant hands-on experience working with Oracle Cerner Millennium data structures.
- Advanced SQL expertise and strong understanding of NHS data warehouse architectures.
- Proven experience validating whether Cerner-sourced data is landing correctly within downstream data warehouses/data marts.
- Strong understanding of how warehouse readiness impacts:
- EPR reporting
- SIT/UAT testing
- Operational go-live readiness
- Demonstrable experience independently assessing data mart completeness, usability, and technical risk.
- Ability to identify gaps caused by:
- Cerner configuration
- Documentation practices

We are seeking a highly experienced Independent Data Warehouse/Data Mart Assurance Lead to undertake a critical assurance and recovery engagement across a major NHS Oracle Cerner data warehouse programme.
This is a senior, hands-on technical delivery role focused on independently assessing the true status of the RADAR data warehouse environment, validating reporting readiness, identifying delivery risks, and producing a credible recovery and re-baselining plan.
The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in Oracle Cerner Millennium data structures, NHS data warehousing, SQL, and downstream reporting assurance.
The Role
You will provide independent technical assurance relating to the Oracle-fed RADAR warehouse, carrying out a detailed mart-by-mart audit to determine what has genuinely been delivered, what remains incomplete, and what is preventing reliable reporting, testing, and go-live planning.
Working closely with BI, reporting, testing, supplier, and programme teams, you will assess both the technical build status and the practical usability of data marts for operational and strategic reporting.
This role requires someone confident in challenging assumptions, validating evidence, and providing objective assurance to senior programme leadership.
