Summary: The IMS Application Database Administrator will leverage their expertise in IMS database administration to support legacy systems and the Mainframe Transformation Team. This hands-on role requires proficiency in performance monitoring, backup, recovery, and troubleshooting of IMS databases. The position also involves coordinating software upgrades and disaster recovery plans while providing technical support for mainframe production control. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with z/OS systems and IMS database management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer mainframe application IMS databases, including performance monitoring and tuning, backup and recovery, and troubleshooting.
- Assist application programmers with DBRC issues and resolve DBRC-related abends in production.
- Refresh development/test databases with production backup images as needed.
- Coordinate testing of mainframe software upgrades and disaster recovery plans with DCS vendor.
- Maintain and provide technical support for Mainframe Production Control and Support Jobs.
Key Skills:
- Experience with z/OS Systems platform.
- Experience with mainframe application IMS database administration.
- Experience with DBRC and forward recoveries.
- Proficient in basic z/OS utilities: TSO, SYSVIEW, SDSF, JSF, IDCAMS, IEBGENER, IEFBR14.
- Experience with Batch and CICS Cobol, IMS programming, and problem resolution.
- Experience developing and troubleshooting complex JCL.
- Experience with JCL, CICS, VSAM, and TSO.
- Experience writing, analyzing, and debugging REXX programs in a z/OS environment.
- Experience with IMS HAL databases and IMS Catalog.
- Working knowledge of Top Secret setup and administration.
