Summary: The Ignition Developer will facilitate the integration of the Formula Management Bot with Capacity Chemical's SQL and R&D infrastructure using Inductive Automation Ignition. This role emphasizes the development of a user-friendly interface and data bridge for real-time interaction between AI systems and lab technicians. The position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure secure access and optimal performance across multiple sites. The developer will also document configurations and resources for IT handover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop Ignition modules to interface with the SQL database storing chatbot-generated formulas and quotes.
- Build a lightweight Ignition dashboard that allows authorized users to launch or monitor the AI chatbot directly from the existing R&D environment.
- Ensure secure SQL read/write access aligned with Capacity's on-site IT policy.
- Configure tag providers, data bindings, and transaction groups to sync formula metadata, user logs, and analytics.
- Collaborate with Nsight's frontend team to integrate Ignition buttons and API calls to the AI workflow (engine built on ChatGPT/NetSuite interface).
- Deploy UI components for Admin and Chemist roles that mirror the AI Bot's approval and validation process.
- Optimize performance for multi-site access (Modesto warehouse mirror instance included).
- Document Ignition gateway configuration, project resources, and security settings for handover to Capacity Chemical's IT team.
Key Skills:
- 3+ years of experience with Inductive Automation Ignition (platform v8 or later).
- Proficiency in Python (Jython) for Ignition scripting and data binding.
- Strong SQL knowledge (MSSQL preferred).
- Experience integrating Ignition with external APIs or AI/REST services.
- Understanding of manufacturing or chemical plant data flows.
- Ability to build clean, user-friendly Ignition interfaces for non-technical users.
- Familiarity with industrial network security and VM-based development environments.
- Prior experience in R&D or process-automation contexts (preferred).
- Knowledge of NetSuite data structures and MCP connectors (preferred).
