Summary: The Ideal/Datacom Developer role is a 6-month contract position focused on developing and maintaining large-scale enterprise applications in mainframe environments using CA IDEAL and CA Datacom. The position requires extensive hands-on experience and strong coding skills, particularly in IDEAL/DATACOM and COBOL/CICS. The developer will also be responsible for production support, debugging, and interacting with various stakeholders. This role is fully remote and classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance large-scale enterprise applications using CA IDEAL and CA Datacom.
- Provide production support and maintenance for existing applications.
- Utilize JCL, CICS, COBOL, VSAM, and batch processing in a mainframe environment.
- Perform debugging and root cause analysis for complex technical issues.
- Interact effectively with business stakeholders, technical teams, and non-technical users.
- Work with mainframe testing tools, version controllers, and job schedulers.
- Contribute to the modernization of legacy systems, including migrations or integrations.
Key Skills:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with CA IDEAL and CA Datacom.
- Strong coding and testing experience in IDEAL/DATACOM and COBOL/CICS.
- Experience with JCL, CICS, COBOL, VSAM, and batch processing.
- Knowledge of Datacom QDRY and DB utilities, along with performance tuning expertise.
- Exceptional debugging and problem-solving skills.
