Summary: The role of IBM zDevOps SME/Solutions Architect involves leading the setup of a GitLab-based DevOps toolchain across multiple business units with distinct Mainframe environments. The position is fully remote, allowing for flexibility without geographical restrictions. The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience in zDevOps, particularly with GitLab, IBM DDB, and UCD. The engagement focuses on infrastructure input definition, environment design, and delivery coordination for the toolchain setup.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the setup of a GitLab-based DevOps toolchain across four different Business Units.
- Provide detailed setup inputs including software, network, and operational dependencies.
- Define precise infrastructure setup inputs, including software prerequisites and network connectivity.
- Coordinate delivery and design of the environment for the toolchain.
- Engage in hands-on toolchain setup leadership across multiple environments.
Key Skills:
- Strong experience as a zDevOps SME/Solutions Architect.
- Knowledge of IBM Z/OS integration across build, deployment, security, and connectivity.
- Hands-on experience with GitLab-based Mainframe toolchains.

Our leading consultancy client is setting up a GitLab-based DevOps toolchain (with IBM DBB + UCD) across 4 different Business Units (countries) - each with its own Mainframe environment. To provide detailed setup inputs (precise software, network, etc. details).
The successful candidate will be an experienced zDevOps Specialist, with hands-on experience setting up GitLab-based Mainframe toolchains.
Program: Programme GitLab-based IBM Z DevOps toolchain setup across four countries using IBM DDB and IBM UrbanCode Deploy.
Engagement focus: Hands-on toolchain setup leadership, infrastructure input definition, environment design and delivery coordination.
The ideal candidate will have experience in most of the following:
- Strong experience working as a zDevOps SME/Solutions Architect
- Strong IBM Z/OS integration knowledge across build, deployment, security and connectivity requirements.
- Ability to define precise infrastructure setup inputs, including software prerequisites, network connectivity, ports, certifications, access, service accounts and operational dependencies
- Hands-on experience setting up GitLab-based Mainframe toolchains (ideally using IBM Dependency Based Build and IBM UrbanCode Deploy)
- Strong hands-on experience in setting up a similar GitLab-based Mainframe DevOps toolchain to lead the toolchain setup exercise
- Experience with hands-on toolchain setup across multiple environments or business units
- Practical IBM Dependency Based Build experience, including integration into a CI/CD pipeline
- Practical IBM UrbanCode Deploy experience for controlled Mainframe deployment and promotion workflows
