IBM Power Systems Administrator

Summary: The role of IBM Power Systems Administrator (AIX/Linux on Power) involves managing and administering IBM Power Systems within a large-scale infrastructure project. This fully remote position requires extensive experience in infrastructure administration, particularly with AIX and Power Systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability and disaster recovery solutions while maintaining effective communication in English. Immediate availability is preferred for this opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and administer IBM Power Systems (Power8, Power9, Power10).
• Oversee AIX 7.x administration and PowerVM, VIOS, HMC, and LPAR management.
• Implement PowerHA, High Availability, and Disaster Recovery solutions.
• Administer SAN Storage, Multipathing, and Storage Administration.
• Utilize NIM, mksysb, and IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM).
• Perform scripting with KSH, Shell Scripting, and/or Python.
• Conduct patching, upgrades, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Apply ITIL processes, Incident Management, and Change Management.
• Communicate effectively in English with team members and stakeholders.

• 8+ years of experience in Infrastructure Administration.
• Strong hands-on experience with IBM Power Systems.
• Extensive experience with AIX 7.x administration.
• Expertise in PowerVM, VIOS, HMC, and LPAR management.

RED now has a new contract opportunity for an IBM Power Systems Administrator (AIX/Linux on Power) to join one of our key partners on a large-scale infrastructure project.

This opportunity is to start ASAP and will be fully remote.

Specific skills/experience required:

• 8+ years of experience in Infrastructure Administration.
• Strong hands-on experience with IBM Power Systems (Power8, Power9, Power10).
• Extensive experience with AIX 7.x administration.
• Expertise in PowerVM, VIOS, HMC and LPAR management.
