Summary: The IBM Power Systems Administrator/Engineer role focuses on managing and supporting IBM Power Systems, specifically iSeries and AIX environments. Key Responsibilities:
- IBMi, iSeries, AS/400 System Administration (10+ years experience)
- i/OS support for versions V7R4 to Current/Future Releases (upgrades, patching, etc.)
- AIX OS support for versions 7.2 to Current/Future releases (upgrades, patching, etc.)
- PowerVM and VIOS support
- Performance Optimization (Memory pools, CPU pools, etc.)
- Strong proactive resolution of security vulnerabilities (patching iSeries, AIX, Linux)
- Hardware Management Console (HMC) configuration and support
- Change Management Administration and promotions (Turnover, IAM, ChangeMaster)
- IBM Power Systems Hardware configuration and support
- IBM Server firmware support
- Virtual I/O Server (VIOS) configuration and support
- TCP/IP knowledge for server configuration and support
- External(SAN) DASD understanding and support (configuration a plus)
- SAN replication methods (IBM FSR, IBM FSFC, GlobalMirror) understanding and support (configuration a plus)
- Data replication (InfoSphere Data Replication formerly known as DataMirror) configuration and support
- Virtual Tape Library (FalconStor) solution configuration and support including patching (linux based)
- BRMS (in-depth knowledge) configuration and support
- MQ Series support Upgrades/PTF s patching
- Troubleshooting skills, analytical skills, experience in high availability/real time environment
- Effective English Communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work in a team environment, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
- Ensure processes and procedures are up to date and followed, manage scheduling, facilitate Major Incident calls with support teams and client representatives
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, to include resources, priorities, and timelines
- Ability to mentor technical Operations staff when appropriate to optimize support response, etc.
- MUST BE ABLE TO WORK NIGHTS/WEEKENDS/HOLIDAYS (in support of production support, support of Operation team escalations, project implementations, etc.)
