Summary: Miracle Software Systems Inc is seeking an IBM MQ Consultant for a remote position. The role involves upgrading IBM MQ across various platforms, ensuring minimal downtime, and validating configurations and compatibility. Key Responsibilities:

  • IBM MQ Upgrade Specialist to upgrade MQ 9.1 9.4 on Windows Server 2016 2019/2022, and MQ 8.0 9.3 on IBM i 7.3 (in-place).
  • Plan, execute, and validate both upgrade tracks with minimal downtime and full rollback procedures.
  • Perform OS migration from Windows Server 2016 to 2019/2022 as part of Track 1.
  • Apply required PTFs and validate IBM i 7.3 prerequisites for MQ 9.3 compatibility in Track 2.
  • Migrate queue managers, channels, listeners, CHLAUTH records, and object definitions across both environments.
  • Validate TLS/SSL configurations, cipher suites, and security policies for MQ 9.4 and 9.3 standards.
  • Re-test all connected applications (including RPG, COBOL, JMS) for API and behavioural compatibility post-upgrade. CONNECTIVITY test between Windows and iSeries MQ.
  • 5+ years IBM MQ administration experience across Windows and IBM i platforms is essential.
  • Produce full documentation including as-built configs, test evidence, and handover materials.
  • IBM MQ Administrator certification preferred; strong change management and stakeholder communications.
