Summary: The IBM Mainframe SQL DBA/Database Administrator role is a contract position focused on managing and administering database systems, specifically involving migration from IBM Mainframe to MS SQL. The role is remote and initially set for six months, with a strong possibility of extension. The position requires interaction with clients to ensure service delivery related to database products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages and administers the physical and technical aspects of database systems, including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and protection.
  • Installation and maintenance of the database system, installation of upgrades and patches, performance and capacity monitoring/management, and security compliance.
  • Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.
  • Potential interaction with clients (internal or external) to understand and meet requirements for the delivery of services related to database products.

Key Skills:

  • Completed an IBM Mainframe (DB2, IMS etc) to MS SQL database/data migration (or similar so DB2 to SQL).
  • Experience with SSMA (SQL Server Migration Assistant) and ADF (Azure Data Factory).
  • Ability to script in Python.
  • Ideally active SC Cleared but not essential.
