Summary: The IBM Mainframe Operator role is a remote position primarily focused on supporting the Department of Justice by managing and operating IBM Mainframes. The operator will work overnight shifts from 10pm to 6am, with potential weekend responsibilities, ensuring the integrity and technical support of the mainframe environment. This position requires flexibility and the ability to handle various operational tasks in a 24/7 environment. A Public Trust security clearance is necessary for this role, although current clearance is not required at the time of application.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as an Operator for the mainframe environment, providing systems support for enterprise data center customers.
- Monitor operations, integrity, and technical support of the Department's IBM System mainframe environment.
- Perform systems operation support, including mainframe operator administration and troubleshooting.
- Document platform service processes and maintain artifacts in a document repository.
- Provide monitoring support for mainframe LPARS across all datacenters, checking monitors for alarms and ensuring tickets are opened for selected sites down.
- Answer incoming calls and direct requests to system engineers for unresolved issues.
- Continuously monitor high priority ticket outages or major issues.
- Perform status updates to BMC system on open tickets and follow up with customers.
- Verify and manage batch jobs in the execution queue.
- Assist customers with starting VPS printers and recycle customer ONLINEs as requested.
- Release and start system initiators and IPL/Shutdown system LPARs during scheduled outages or as requested.
Key Skills:
- High School diploma with 4+ years of experience.
- Hands-on knowledge of Mainframe Operations.
- Proficient in logging on the HMCs at both sites.
- Knowledge of Basic Operator commands.
- Ability to analyze and resolve software and device-related problems.

seeking an IBM Mainframe Operator to be a member of our Mainframe Operations Team supporting our customers at the Department of Justice. This individual will provide Mainframe Operator Services and manage, operate, and maintain IBM Mainframes.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Serves as an Operator for the mainframe environment, which provides mainframe systems support for -wide customers in an enterprise data center environment.

Cancel or release and start batch jobs per user request on mainframe LPARs.
Assist customers with starting VPS printers.
Recycle customer s ONLINEs per request.
Release and start system initiators.
IPL/Shutdown system LPARs during scheduled mainframe outages or as requested.
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma with 4+ years experience
Candidate selected will be subject to a Government Public Trust security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to the customer s information. Current clearance is not required, but selected individual cannot start the assignment until the required security clearance is granted by the customer.
Hands-on knowledge of Mainframe Operations is required for this position
Must be proficient logging on the HMCs at both sites
Must have knowledge of Basic Operator commands
Ability to determine, analyze and resolve software and device related problems
Demonstrated communication skills and ability to develop positive relationships with customers, team members, vendor service providers and stakeholders
Strong customer service skills
Ability to communicate problems and solutions both verbally and in writing to the Government Lead
