Summary: This remote role seeks a senior Z/OS Database System Engineer to manage and protect high-volume DB2 for z/OS environments within a large-scale retail enterprise. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and protect DB2 for z/OS environments supporting high-volume retail transactions.
- Perform installation, upgrades, configuration, and performance tuning of DB2 databases.
- Handle backup, recovery, high availability, disaster recovery, and data replication.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot production incidents and batch job issues.
- Work in 24x7 production environments, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Utilize performance monitoring tools to diagnose bottlenecks under peak loads.
- Collaborate on hybrid integration of mainframe and cloud/distributed systems.
Key Skills:
- Hands-on experience with IBM Z/OS database systems.
- Strong expertise in DB2 for z/OS (installation, configuration, tuning, backup, recovery).
- Solid understanding of Z/OS architecture, JCL, SDSF, ISPF, and batch processing.
- Experience with performance monitoring tools (OMEGAMON, RMF, SMF).

Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with IBM Z/OS database systems
- Strong expertise in DB2 for z/OS (installation, configuration, tuning, backup, recovery)
- Experience with IMS DB and related tools is a strong plus
- Solid understanding of Z/OS architecture, JCL, SDSF, ISPF, and batch processing
- Hands-on experience with performance and monitoring tools (OMEGAMON, RMF, SMF)
- Experience in high-volume transaction environments (retail, banking, or large enterprise)
- Knowledge of data replication, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in production-critical environments with minimal downtime
Preferred / Nice-to-Have:
