Summary: The role of Hyper-V Administrator involves managing and optimizing a Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization environment on a part-time contract basis. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting performance issues, ensuring high availability of virtualized workloads, and implementing disaster recovery strategies. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in Hyper-V and Windows Server administration, along with strong troubleshooting skills. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, monitor, and maintain a Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization environment.
- Perform regular maintenance, patching, and updates to ensure a stable and secure Hyper-V infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot performance, storage, and networking issues within virtualized environments.
- Optimize Hyper-V host configurations for performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Configure and manage virtual machines (VMs), virtual networks, and storage in Hyper-V.
- Ensure proper backup and replication of VMs using Veeam, DPM, or other backup solutions.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery (DR) strategies for Hyper-V environments.
- Perform VM restores and disaster recovery tests as needed.
- Apply security best practices for Hyper-V host and guest environments.
- Implement and maintain role-based access control (RBAC) for virtualization environments.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and industry standards for virtualization security.
- Maintain detailed documentation of virtualization configurations, policies, and procedures.
- Provide recommendations for capacity planning and resource optimization.
- Assist IT teams with troubleshooting and root cause analysis of virtualization-related incidents.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business-critical applications running on Hyper-V.
Key Skills:
- 5+ years of experience as a Hyper-V Administrator or Virtualization Engineer.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft Hyper-V, Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), and Failover Clustering.
- Experience with SCVMM (System Center Virtual Machine Manager) is a plus.
- Knowledge of Hyper-V networking, storage configurations, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for automation and VM management.
- Expertise in Hyper-V replication, clustering, and live migration.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in virtualization, storage, and networking.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions for Hyper-V environments.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with remote teams.
