Summary: The Healthcare Regulatory and Risk Specialist will oversee the regulatory processes for Bupa Dental Care, engaging with key healthcare regulators across the UK and Ireland. This role involves providing management information, supporting stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. The specialist will also analyze inspection reports and trends, offering guidance and recommendations for improvement. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and support the regulatory process for Bupa Dental Care across key care regulators.
- Develop proactive relationships with healthcare regulators and manage tasks related to regulatory change.
- Provide healthcare risk management advice and support to various teams and stakeholders.
- Review regulatory inspection reports and maintain a regulatory inspection outcome database.
- Provide timely reporting on regulatory horizon scanning for senior management.
- Oversee healthcare regulator portals and registrations.
- Manage the registration of practices and compliance processes.
- Support the Learning and Development team in training related to regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain healthcare regulatory SOP/Processes.
- Implement a system for managing CAS Alerts and nation-specific alerts.
Key Skills:
- Approximately 3 years of experience in regulated healthcare environments.
- Experience responding to healthcare regulator requirements.
- Demonstrable experience managing regulatory compliance in a dental setting.
- Ability to identify and manage risks related to healthcare regulation.
- Strong communication skills for developing and conveying regulatory changes.

Healthcare Regulatory and Risk Specialist 9 month FTC Remote role with occasional travel
The Role
As the Healthcare Regulatory and Risk Specialist, you will manage and support the regulatory process for Bupa Dental Care across the key care regulators of CQC, HIW, NHS Scotland, HIS, RQIA, HIQA, NHS/LHBs, HTA and other key stakeholders. You will rovide robust, relevant and timely management information and support key business stakeholders in raising challenges to our external regulators. Review of inspection reports and offer advice and guidance to the business. You will also be the subject matter expert in healthcare regulation in England/Scotland/Wales/Northern Ireland/ROI relating to Dental Care.
What will I be doing?
- Lead and develop proactive relationships with the healthcare regulators and key stakeholders for BDC (CQC, HIW, NHS Scotland, HIS, RQIA, HIQA, NHS/LHBs & HTA) and manage associated tasks relating to regulatory change.
- Support to various teams and stakeholders (including Quality Improvement Team Manager, Practice Managers, Area Managers, Learning & Development) with regards existing and changing healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Provide healthcare risk management advice and support, including to relevant projects and teams, and ensure risks relating to healthcare regulation and provision are managed in-line with requirements.
- Review regulatory inspection reports, maintain a regulatory inspection outcome database and conduct analysis of trends and make recommendations for improvement.
- Provide timely reporting on regulatory horizon scanning / positions for both internal and external use to senior management on monthly, quarterly and ad hoc basis.
- Oversight of various healthcare regulator portals and registrations.
- Clinical Regulatory Invoices management including approvals up to a defined limit.
- Manage the registration of practices, including new, closure and changes to registration in conjunction with NHS commissioning Team, where indicated.
- Manage the registered manager processes and compliance in BDC, engaging with stakeholders to ensure regulations are met.
- Support the Learning and Development team develop and deliver training related to regulatory requirements, including the delivery e.g., Induction.
- Provide SME support relating to regulatory interviews.
- Develop and/or maintain healthcare regulatory SOP/Processes to support BDC meet their regulatory requirements.
- Implement and sustain a timely system for the management of CAS Alerts, including any nation specific alerts systems e.g., HPRA ROI, SAN Scotland.
What do I need?
- experience (c.3 years) of working in regulated healthcare environments.
- experience of working with and responding to healthcare regulator requirements e.g., CQC, HIW, NHS Scotland, HIS, RQIA, HIQA, NHS/LHBs.
- demonstrable experience of managing and advising on regulatory compliance matters in a Dental provision setting.
- experience of advising and supporting in the identification and management of risks related to healthcare regulation and provision.
- be able to develop and effectively communicate change related to healthcare regulators.
- be expected to judge the level of regulatory and reputational risk associated with compliance.
- be able to provide evidence-based insight.
- an ability to write high quality reports and to quality assure written submissions to regulators.
- working knowledge and application of Microsoft office including, but not limited to, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- be able to confidently represent the organisation at events and meetings with stakeholders in a professional and balanced manner.
