Your New Company And Role

Our client is a large Digital Consultancy, delivering into a number of large financial organisations. They require a Head of Data Protection to join on an interim basis, working across Key Accounts. This role will provide strategic and regulatory compliance support on general data protection regulation and other data privacy laws and regulations. The role holder will manage the data protection team, be part of the wider Risk and Assurance Directorate and be responsible for the delivery of second line assurance, advice and horizon scanning. They will be the technical expert on GDPR, providing accurate and timely advice to the business to maintain ongoing compliance with relevant regulations. This role is pivotal in driving their second line assurance model forward across the business, providing direct, proactive and expert SME support into business operations. This will enable the delivery of operational processes that are compliant by design and provide a source of technical advice and guidance that will protect the end customer and corporate partners. The role is available remotely but will require occasional trips to client sites to engage with key stakeholders. We expect this to be roughly bi-monthly to quarterly.

What You'll Need To Succeed

For this role you must have experience and knowledge in the following areas. Expert knowledge of national and European data protection laws and practices, as well as an in-depth understanding of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and knowledge of the UK Data Protection Bill Experience conducting data privacy compliance assurance reviews and managing information and data security activities in a business environment Demonstrable experience in developing and managing information and data security assurance programmes, including third parties with the confidence to act as a leading authority to all business units Ability to provide clear advice and direction even when dealing with ambiguity and when faced with competing demands and short deadlines. The ability to promote a data protection culture within the business, building relationships and influencing key stakeholders within a complex business environment to build the reputation of information and data security. Expert knowledge of Data Protection regulatory risk environment and operation of regulatory bodies. Experience of interpreting DP regulatory requirements within the financial services industry - minimum 5 years experience. Experience of building key relationships as well as influencing/challenging stakeholders.
