Summary: The Guidewire QA Lead role involves leading data validation and quality assurance efforts across Guidewire platforms, specifically focusing on ensuring data consistency and accuracy between Guidewire Aurora databases and SQL Server databases. The position requires extensive QA leadership experience and deep knowledge of Guidewire data, along with hands-on expertise in database validation within enterprise insurance environments. Key Responsibilities:
- Define and lead the overall QA and data validation strategy for cross-database comparisons supporting Guidewire applications.
- Develop and maintain test plans, test scenarios, entry/exit criteria, and effort estimates.
- Assign and oversee work for junior QA or ETL testers, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
- Coordinate closely with development, data engineering, and functional QA teams.
- Lead daily stand-ups, status reporting, defect reviews, and triage sessions.
- Develop a strong understanding of Guidewire data models across PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, and BillingCenter.
- Analyze and compare schemas between Aurora databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and SQL Server environments.
- Design and execute automated or semi-automated data comparison approaches, including SQL-based queries, row and record counts, checksum and column-level comparisons.
- Validate ETL or replication processes, including record completeness and accuracy, primary and foreign key integrity, data type alignment and transformations, and referential integrity across systems.
- Perform root cause analysis on data discrepancies and collaborate with technical teams to resolve issues.
- Validate entity and column mappings across Guidewire modules and downstream systems.
- Enforce QA best practices for data testing and script validation.
- Ensure proper documentation of data mismatches, reconciliation results, and audit logs.
- Review and approve data validation results and provide final QA sign-off for each Guidewire module.
- Maintain clear communication with stakeholders regarding risks, defects, and resolution status.
Key Skills:
- 10+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, with at least 3-5 years in a QA Lead role.
- Strong hands-on experience testing Guidewire applications, including BillingCenter, PolicyCenter, and/or ClaimCenter.
- Proven expertise in database testing and data validation using SQL.
- Experience validating data across cloud-based and on-premise databases.
- Strong understanding of insurance data and P&C business processes.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills.
- Experience with Guidewire cloud (Aurora) migrations or data replication projects is preferred.
- Prior exposure to ETL validation and data reconciliation initiatives is preferred.
