Summary: The Group Grants & Funding Manager at ELIRE Group will lead the public funding strategy, focusing on securing non-dilutive funding opportunities across clean maritime, aviation, and defence sectors. This strategic and operational role involves identifying funding opportunities, managing consortium partnerships, and overseeing the delivery of awarded programs. The position is integral to advancing ELIRE's innovative projects and solutions in the maritime infrastructure and clean aviation sectors. Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the Group-wide grants and public funding strategy aligned to ELIRE’s commercial and technology roadmaps.
  • Identify new funding opportunities across the UK, Europe, US, and Australia, including roles as lead applicant, consortium partner, or subcontractor.
  • Track and assess opportunities across clean maritime, clean aviation, clean fuels, energy systems, and defence-aligned innovation programs.
  • Lead the preparation of high-value grant and funding applications, including upcoming Clean Maritime Competitions, aviation and fuels programs, and defence innovation calls.
  • Structure and manage consortia with industry, academic, and public-sector partners.
  • Coordinate internal engineering, commercial, finance, and legal resources to support bids.
  • Lead the mobilisation and strategic oversight of major awarded programs, including a £20m funding option with a leading London technology institute targeted for Q2.
  • Act as ELIRE’s focal point for engagement with funding bodies, innovation agencies, and public institutions.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience leading and winning public funding or grant applications in the UK and/or internationally.
  • Strong understanding of innovation funding landscapes (e.g. UKRI, Innovate UK, EU programs, defence innovation, US and Australian equivalents).
  • Experience structuring and managing multi-party consortia.
  • Familiarity with TRL frameworks and technology demonstration programmes.
  • Highly organised and detail-driven, with the ability to manage multiple complex bids and programmes in parallel.

We are now seeking an experienced Grants & Public Funding Manager to lead this effort across the Group’s ventures.

Role Overview

The Grants & Public Funding Manager will own and lead ELIRE Group’s public funding strategy, identifying, structuring, and securing non-dilutive and blended funding opportunities across clean maritime, clean aviation, clean fuels, and defence-related programs. This role is both strategic and operational. The successful candidate will proactively identify high-value funding opportunities, shape competitive bids, assemble and manage consortium partnerships, and coordinate internal technical, commercial, and delivery teams to submit and win high-confidence applications.

About You:

Experience & Expertise

Proven experience leading and winning public funding or grant applications in the UK and/or internationally. Strong understanding of innovation funding landscapes (e.g. UKRI, Innovate UK, EU programs, defence innovation, US and Australian equivalents). Experience structuring and managing multi-party consortia. Familiarity with TRL frameworks and technology demonstration programmes.
