Job Description
NOTE: We're looking for a Google Cloud Platform Database Support/Site Reliability Engineer to manage, optimize, and troubleshoot cloud-native database systems, with hands-on expertise in Cloud Spanner as a mandatory requirement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage Google Cloud Platform database services (Cloud Spanner, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Firestore).
- Monitor performance, availability, and reliability of production database systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents, ensuring SLA/SLO compliance.
- Optimize Cloud Spanner schemas, queries, and instance configurations for scale and cost.
- Implement backup, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on database architecture and migrations.
- Automate operational tasks using Terraform/scripting (Python/Bash).
Mandatory Requirements
- Hands-on production experience with Google Cloud Spanner (schema design, performance tuning, monitoring).
- Strong SQL and distributed database concepts (consistency, sharding, replication).
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform IAM, networking, and monitoring (Cloud Monitoring/Logging).
- Familiarity with incident management and on-call rotations.
Good to Have
- Google Cloud Platform Professional Cloud Database Engineer certification.
- Experience with Cloud SQL, BigQuery, or AlloyDB.
- Terraform/Infrastructure-as-Code experience.
