Summary: As a Goldengate Database Administrator and Engineer, you will optimize multiple database systems for performance, resiliency, and security while automating tasks and ensuring data integrity. This role involves collaboration with a skilled team and requires a strong desire to learn and adapt. You will report to the DBA & DevOps Director within the DevOps Engineering department. The position is remote and offers a contract-to-hire opportunity with an immediate start.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Optimize database performance, including query optimization and index creation and tuning.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks like patching, data archiving, and capacity planning.
  • Implement best-practices for database and data security, including proper handling and redaction of PCI and PII data.
  • Deploy and configure new databases via automation (Terraform, Ansible, AWS CLI, CloudFormation, etc.).
  • Setup monitoring and alerting to catch performance or capacity issues.
  • First responder for database issues. Collaborate with development teams in troubleshooting and resolving incidents.
  • Ensure resiliency of all database systems by configuring high availability and backups, including annual disaster recovery testing.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Install, configure, and manage GoldenGate extracts and replicants GoldenGate Core and BigData.
  • Troubleshoot issues with GoldenGate installation, setup, and configuration.

Key Skills:

  • 7+ years Database Engineering or Database Administration experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing Oracle, MongoDB, Postgres, MySQL, and other database platforms in AWS RDS.
  • Demonstrated experience in configuring and managing GoldenGate replication GG Core and BigData.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing automation scripts (bash/shell). Knowledge of Python and other languages are a plus.
  • Passion for automating tasks and learning new skills with a growth mindset.
  • Able to debug complex database/system issues and analyze Splunk or ElasticSearch APM logs/metrics.
  • Experience with managing databases and services hosted in the Cloud (AWS, OCI).
  • Experience with Unix/Linux systems.

SUMMARY:

As a Database Administrator and Engineer, you will work on multiple database systems, optimizing performance, resiliency, scale, and security. You will be involved in scripting and creating automation for repeatable tasks, assist in architecting highly available and performant database systems, and being stewards of security and data integrity. You will be working with a team of skilled database engineers who have deep domain and technical knowledge of the company's databases and cloud infrastructure.

In this key role, our philosophy is that Database Engineers and DBAs are experts in their field and have a strong desire to learn new skills.

This position will sit in the DevOps Engineering department, reporting to the DBA & DevOps Director.
