Summary: My market leading client is seeking a Test Manager to support a large-scale GIS transformation programme. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in Public Sector/GDS assignments and experience in GIS data-oriented projects. The role requires immediate availability and expertise in managing complex testing environments. Key responsibilities include owning the test strategy and coordinating various testing phases across multiple teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the test strategy, plan and execution for private and public beta.
- Define and manage test scope, environments, test data, governance and reporting.
- Coordinate functional, integration, end-to-end, UAT, operational readiness and non-functional testing.
- Define entry and exit criteria for private beta and public beta, aligned to project and Defra standards.
- Manage defect triage, prioritisation and resolution tracking across delivery teams.
- Coordinate testing across multiple platform teams and partners.
- Support definition of service acceptance and live readiness criteria.
- Ensure testing covers the solution, operating model, support model, onboarding and training.
- Lead engagement with independent test specialists (e.g. Penetration Testing providers).
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a Test Manager in complex delivery environments.
- Experience defining and delivering test strategy and execution across multi-team programmes.
- Strong experience of functional, integration, end-to-end, UAT, operational readiness and non-functional testing.
- Experience managing test environments, test data and defect management.
- Experience producing test reporting and assurance outputs for governance forums and senior stakeholders.
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments.
- Hands-on familiarity with Jira, Azure DevOps, test management tools, API testing tools, GIS tooling and accessibility testing tools.
- Experience leading or mentoring testers.
- Strong experience of geospatial / GIS testing in data-centric environments.
- Strong understanding of AGOL / ArcGIS Online web map viewers APIs data models.
- Strong understanding of spatial accuracy, data validation, permissions, interoperability and platform integration.
- Experience testing data-heavy platforms, analytics products or map-based services.
- Experience where data quality and validation are critical.
