Summary: The Geospatial Platform Engineer role involves supporting the development, optimization, and deployment of scalable geospatial platforms for a high-profile client. This position requires expertise in cloud platforms and geospatial tools to enable complex data insights. The role is remote and initially offered as a six-month contract, classified as outside IR35. Candidates must be eligible for Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and maintain scalable, cloud-based platforms for geospatial data processing and analytics
- Automate deployment and CI/CD pipelines for geospatial applications and services
- Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and DevOps teams to support platform performance and reliability
- Implement best practices for geospatial data security, integrity, and compliance
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure and deployment issues across the stack
Key Skills:
- Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and container orchestration tools (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)
- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Experience managing geospatial tools/platforms such as MapLibre, Mapbox and CesiumJS or similar technologies
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI or GitHub Actions
- Strong scripting skills (e.g. Python, Bash) and working knowledge of APIs and microservices
