Summary: The Geospatial Data Engineer role involves working on a high-profile digital transformation program, focusing on the design, construction, and maintenance of data pipelines for large-scale geospatial datasets. This position is contract-based for an initial six months and is fully remote. The engineer will collaborate with data scientists and analysts to ensure data quality and compliance while integrating various geospatial data sources into cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest, process and store geospatial data
- Build and optimise geospatial data models and architectures
- Integrate geospatial data from various sources (e.g., satellite, LIDAR, IoT) into cloud environments
- Support data scientists and analysts by providing clean, well-structured datasets
- Ensure data quality, security and compliance standards are met
Key Skills:
- Strong programming skills in Python, with experience using libraries such as GeoPandas, Shapely and GDAL
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools
- Proficiency in spatial databases (e.g., PostGIS) and data pipeline tools (e.g., Airflow)
- Familiarity with geospatial APIs, formats (GeoJSON, WKT) and data services
