Gds Product Manager

Posted 1 day ago by ISR Recruitment

The Opportunity:

ISR Recruitment is seeking an experienced Product Manager for a leading central government client, supporting the development and ongoing management of a national surveillance reporting database.

You will bring together requirements from multiple business areas, establish a consolidated product backlog and develop a prioritised roadmap that balances user needs, operational risks, technical dependencies and strategic objectives.

Consulting closely with the Technical Architect, Delivery Manager, User Researcher and delivery teams, you will turn business requirements into clear, delivery-ready backlog items and ensure effective product ownership, governance and stakeholder alignment.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven Product Management experience, ideally within UK central government or public sector digital services.
  • Strong experience managing product backlogs, roadmaps, requirements and prioritisation.
  • Ability to balance user needs, technical considerations, operational risks and competing stakeholder demands.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, delivery managers and user researchers.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, governance and communication skills.
  • Desirable: Experience with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and platforms and knowledge of the health sector or national surveillance services would be hugely beneficial.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Consolidate requirements and demand into a single structured product backlog.
  • Develop and maintain a prioritised roadmap aligned with user needs and service objectives.
  • Refine requirements, acceptance criteria, dependencies and delivery ownership.
  • Work with technical and delivery teams to address technical debt, risks and delivery dependencies.
  • Support product governance, ownership models, decision-making and escalation routes.
  • Incorporate user research and feedback into product priorities.
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement and maintain product communications, SharePoint content and release updates.
  • N.B. Candidates will have or be willing to undergo a basic level of security clearance prior to starting the role (5-7 days lead time).
