Summary: The GDPS Consultant role focuses on providing expertise in IBM's Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex (GDPS) for z/VM and z/OS environments. The consultant will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining GDPS systems while performing failover testing and supporting various tools on the z/VM operating system. This position is remote and requires a solid understanding of GDPS features and IBM Z NetView. The role is classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of IBM Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex (GDPS)
- Understand GDPS features like Metro Mirror, Global Mirror, and HyperSwap
- Familiarity with IBM Z NetView for monitoring and management
- System Automation (SA)
- Basic knowledge of zVM/ zOS
- Ability to perform failover testing
- Ability to understand and perform existing for XDR, TSAMP and zVM
- Ability to use z/OS, GDPS commands, zVM, NETVIEW, TSAMP, (and maybe a few RHEL commands and concepts)
- Ability to configure and maintain GDPS environments XDR, TSAMP, zVM PORTION
- Monitoring system health and performance metrics for potential issues
- Troubleshooting and resolving GDPS related problems XDR, TSAMP, zVM PORTION
- Performs other duties as assigned as an IBM z/VM systems programmer.
- Provide support with various tools used on the z/VM operating system (i.e. Velocity Performance Suite for system z, z/PRO.
