Summary
This role exists to support a major overhaul and migration of a 20+ year-old core backend system handling customer inventory, driver capacity, and routing software integration. The project is focused on replacing legacy Visual Basic .
NET and ASP.
NET Web Forms applications with modern C# ASP.
NET Core Web APIs and modern Angular frontends deployed across a hybrid on-premises and Azure environment.
The developer will spend most of their week executing full-stack feature delivery, writing new code in C# and Angular, and digging into legacy Web Forms codebases to identify and preserve embedded business logic. Success means consistently delivering high-quality code from well-defined user stories, proactively communicating gaps in business requirements, and keeping migration milestones on track.
Responsibilities
- Build full-stack features using modern C# ASP.NET Core Web APIs and Angular.
- Migrate legacy ASP.NET Web Forms and Visual Basic .NET codebases to modern microservices architectures.
- Uncover, document, and preserve critical business logic deeply embedded within legacy Web Forms applications.
- Integrate new Angular applications with existing ASP.NET MVC, Razor, and legacy .NET APIs.
- Modify SQL Server database schemas and write database queries to support new backend API endpoints.
- Partner with engineering leads to identify missing user story requirements and refine business logic edge cases.
Required Experience
- 5+ years of professional full-stack software development experience.
- Strong hands-on proficiency with modern .NET backend technologies (C# and ASP.NET Core Web API).
- Hands-on frontend development experience using modern Angular (Angular 17 or modern versions).
- Proven track record working on complex system migrations or modernizing legacy monoliths.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fully remote environment within US time zones.
Preferred Experience
- Experience reading, debugging, and tracing business logic in legacy VB.NET or ASP.NET Web Forms code.
- Experience integrating applications in hybrid on-premise and Azure cloud environments.
- Practical experience establishing or executing automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies.
- Solid working knowledge of SQL Server database schema changes and query development.
