Full Stack React Developer - Remote Working - APIs - Dashboards

Our client, a major UK retail bank, provides every day banking services to over 17 million retail customers. The banks expertise and services span across Business Services, Corporate banking, Wealth Management, Group Functions, Retail and Investment Banking.

On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Full-Stack React Engineer for an initial 6-month contract on a remote first basis (head offices in Edinburgh; very rare attendance may be needed). Work must be completed from within the UK.

Purpose of the Role:

You will work with one of the UK's largest retail banks to deliver a brand new, bespoke performance management dashboard. The current solution, built in Tableau, no longer meets the needs of senior leadership and is being replaced with a more flexible, interactive application.

The new tool will present key business KPIs and allow users to drill down into performance data, playing a crucial role in high-level strategic decision-making. It will be used directly by C-suite stakeholders, so usability, clarity, and responsiveness are key.

This is a hands-on engineering role, primarily focused on Front End development in React, with some Back End API work where required.

The team operates on a remote-first basis and fosters a collaborative, delivery-driven environment.

Responsibilities of the role:

• Develop and maintain a high-quality Front End interface using React, ensuring excellent performance, responsiveness, and usability

• Translate complex business requirements into intuitive, data-driven UI components for C-suite level users

• Work closely with designers, product owners, and Back End engineers to deliver a seamless user experience

• Implement visualisations and drill-down capabilities for performance and KPI dashboards

• Contribute to Back End API development as needed

• Ensure accessibility, cross-browser compatibility, and mobile responsiveness

• Write clean, maintainable code following modern JavaScript/TypeScript practices

• Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing within a collaborative development team

• Continuously improve the application through feedback, iteration, and performance tuning

What we require from the candidate:

Essential:

• Strong hands-on experience with React and core web technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3)

• Proven ability to build clean, responsive, and intuitive user interfaces

• Confident working in agile, collaborative development teams

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to discuss UI/UX decisions clearly

Nice to Have:

• Experience building dashboards or data-driven applications (highly desirable).

• Familiarity with TypeScript, LESS/SASS, or similar Front End tooling

• Previous experience working in retail banking or other regulated environments

• Experience delivering solutions for senior stakeholders or executive users
