Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to support the migration of enterprise Java applications from Oracle WebLogic Server to Apache Tomcat.
The developer will assess application dependencies, make required code and configuration changes, and validate applications in the new Tomcat environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze existing Java applications and WebLogic-specific dependencies and configurations.
- Modify application code, deployment descriptors, libraries, and configuration as required for Tomcat compatibility.
- Configure Tomcat environments, including data sources, security, logging, JVM settings, and application deployment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve migration, deployment, and runtime issues.
- Perform unit, integration, regression, and performance testing following migration.
- Work with development, infrastructure, and QA teams to support deployment and production readiness.
- Document migration steps, configuration changes, issues, and operational procedures.
Required Skills
- Strong Java/J2EE development experience.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Tomcat and Oracle WebLogic.
- Experience migrating applications between Java application servers.
- Knowledge of Spring/Spring Boot, servlets, JSP, JNDI, JDBC, and REST APIs.
- Familiarity with Maven/Gradle, Git, CI/CD, and Linux/Unix environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and application deployment skills.
Preferred
- Experience identifying and replacing WebLogic-specific APIs or services with standards-based alternatives.
- Experience with enterprise application modernization and production migrations.
- Understanding of application security, SSL/TLS, authentication, and performance tuning.
