About the Project: GG Care is a London startup harnessing readily available smart home devices to improve the lives of older adults and people with neurological conditions. The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) has awarded GG Care a small grant for Project SleepWell - a health-tech initiative aimed at enhancing well-being through data-driven insights and proactive communication. The system is designed to collect and process sleep and wellness data in the backend, then deliver personalised telephone calls via AI voice agents that provide automated reminders and well-being check-ins for individuals recovering from an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). This project aims to bridge the gap between health data and practical support, creating a reliable, scalable solution that can be extended to support a variety of future use cases.

Scope of Work: We are seeking a freelance software developer to take ownership of completing the WebApp and preparing it for production use. The key responsibilities include:

  • Finalise and test an existing API integration (currently in progress) for handling sleep and wellness data, ensuring robustness, error handling, and complete functionality.
  • Enhance the AWS backend to ensure reliable and secure data processing, storage, and system performance.
  • Implement and optimise email automation workflows using Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) for timely and personalised communications.
  • Ensure system stability through proper logging, monitoring, and fault tolerance measures.
  • Deliver thorough technical documentation to support maintenance, onboarding of future developers, and potential project expansion.

Requirements: To be successful in this role, you should bring:

  • Strong skills in JavaScript (Node.js) with proven experience building backend services.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Previous exposure to health-tech or wellness-related projects is highly advantageous but not required.

Nice-to-Haves: Experience developing applications that handle health or wellness data . Skills in data visualisation or dashboard creation to support reporting and monitoring. Familiarity with continuous integration, automated testing, and DevOps practices .
