Detailed Description From Employer:

About Rossenrode Partners Rossenrode Partners is a managed fractional CFO network connecting VC-backed startups and growth-stage businesses with experienced, vetted CFOs. We handle all client acquisition, contracts, invoicing, and administration. You focus entirely on delivering exceptional financial leadership. We are building our founding network of fractional CFOs right now — a small, highly selective group of senior finance professionals who will form the back bone of what we are building.

The Opportunity We are looking for experienced CFOs to join the Rossenrode Partners network on a fractional basis. As a founding network member you will be matched with VC-backed startups and growth-stage businesses across the UK that need senior financial leadership — without the cost of a full-time hire. You will work directly with founders, boards, and investors at some of the UK's most ambitious early-stage companies. Every engagement is carefully matched to your sector expertise, availability, and experience level. You will never be placed somewhere you are not the right fit. We handle everything that is not CFO work. You handle everything that is.

What You Will Be Doing Depending on the stage and needs of the client, your engagements will typically involve:

  • Financial Leadership and Strategy
  • Serving as the senior financial voice in the business — attending board meetings, presenting to investors, and advising the CEO and leadership team on all financial matters
  • Building and maintaining financial models that hold up under investor scrutiny — revenue builds, cost structures, headcount planning, unit economics, and scenario analysis
  • Owning the monthly reporting rhythm — producing professional board packs, investor updates, and management accounts on time, every month
  • Fundraising and Investor Relations
  • Preparing businesses for fundraising rounds — building the financial narrative, stress-testing assumptions, and ensuring the company is investor-ready before any process begins
  • Managing the financial elements of investor due diligence — organising data rooms, responding to financial queries, and presenting the company's numbers with precision and confidence
  • Supporting founders through Seed, Series A, and Series B processes from financial preparation through to close
  • Cash Flow and Financial Operations
  • Building and maintaining 13-week rolling cash flow forecasts — ensuring the business always has clear visibility on runway and burn
  • Identifying and addressing financial risks before they become crises — margin leaks, cost overruns, pricing issues, and working capital problems
  • Overseeing financial operations — payroll, VAT, R&D tax credits, EIS/SEIS compliance, and statutory obligations
  • Growth and Exit Planning
  • Developing financial infrastructure that scales with the business — reporting frameworks, KPI dashboards, finance team structures, and accounting systems
  • Preparing businesses for exit — building exit-ready financials, advising on valuation drivers, and ensuring the company can withstand buy-side due diligence
  • Supporting M&A processes where relevant — financial due diligence, integration planning, and deal structuring

What a Typical Engagement Looks Like Time commitment: 5–20 hours per month depending on client stage and needs Engagement length: Typically 12–36 months — these are long-term relationships, not short-term projects Client profile: VC-backed startups at Seed to Series B, and growth-stage businesses with £1M–£50M revenue Working style: Remote-first with occasional in-person board meetings and client visits as required

What Rossenrode Provides to You Full client pipeline: We source, qualify, and close every client engagement. You never pitch for work or spend time on business development All commercial administration: Contracts, NDAs, invoicing, payment collection, and client onboarding — all handled by Rossenrode 75% of every engagement fee: The most competitive split in the UK fractional CFO market A peer network: Monthly mastermind sessions, deal review groups, shared playbooks, and a community of fellow senior CFOs Brand and credibility: The backing of a professional firm behind every client conversation

Qualifications Essential ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified — full membership required, not part-qualified Minimum 10 years of post-qualification finance experience at a senior level Demonstrable experience as a CFO, Finance Director, or VP Finance — a title is not enough; we are looking for evidence of genuine C-suite financial leadership Direct experience working inside or alongside VC-backed businesses — you must have navigated at least one fundraising round, whether Seed, Series A, or Series B, as the lead finance professional Deep working knowledge of UK startup financial mechanics — EIS/SEIS qualifying conditions, R&D tax credits (HMRC SME and RDEC schemes), Making Tax Digital compliance, and UK statutory reporting obligations Proven ability to build institutional-grade financial models from scratch — bottom-up revenue builds, unit economics, multi-scenario planning, and investor-ready outputs Experience producing and presenting board packs to a board that includes institutional investors Strong working knowledge of startup KPIs — ARR, MRR, burn multiple, LTV/CAC, net revenue retention, gross margin, and Rule of 40 Comfortable operating as the sole senior finance professional in a business — no team beneath you at early stage, no corporate support structure

Highly Desirable MBA, CFA, or additional postgraduate business or finance qualification Experience as a fractional or interim CFO across multiple concurrent engagements Sector expertise in one or more of: SaaS, fintech, e-commerce, deep tech, healthtech, or climate tech Experience managing a full statutory audit as the lead finance executive Working knowledge of revenue recognition under IFRS 15 or FRS 102 — particularly for SaaS and subscription businesses Experience with multi-entity consolidation and multi-currency reporting Track record of supporting M&A transactions — buy-side or sell-side financial due diligence Prior experience preparing a business for exit — strategic, trade sale, or secondary transaction Relationships within the UK VC and startup ecosystem — investor networks, accelerator connections, or founder communities

Personal Attributes You communicate complex financial information clearly to non-finance founders and boards — you translate numbers into decisions, not just reports You are comfortable with ambiguity and can operate effectively in fast-moving, resource-constrained environments You take ownership — if something financial is wrong in the business you are advising, you find it and fix it You are honest with founders even when the message is difficult — the best CFOs tell founders what they need to hear, not what they want to hear You want to build long-term relationships with the companies you work with, not move from contract to contract

How to Apply If you meet the criteria above and the Rossenrode model is of interest, we would like to hear from you. Please send a brief message introducing yourself, a summary of your most relevant experience with VC-backed businesses, and your LinkedIn profile to aidenrossenrode@outlook.com We are not looking for volume. We are looking for the right people. Applications will be reviewed personally by the founder and responded to within two working days.
