Summary: The Firewall Experts role is a remote position focused on the migration and support of firewall systems, specifically Checkpoint and Palo Alto firewalls. The position involves pre-migration staging, validation, and active support during the migration process, ensuring minimal downtime for critical applications. The role requires collaboration with site teams and application owners to ensure operational readiness and compliance with configurations. This is a 12-month contract with an emphasis on technical expertise in firewall management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in staging new firewalls/connections for site deployment.
• Validate that new configurations match legacy firewalls using config analysis tools and manual comparison.
• Assist with placement logistics of new firewalls.
• Conduct connectivity tests including management connectivity, routing verification, and operational readiness validation.
• Monitor firewall health and incidents during cutovers.
• Respond to change requests and issue remediation based on site complexity.
• Engage directly with app owners/site leads to prevent downtime for critical applications.
• Collect and validate source/destination IPs and ports.
• Accelerate firewall rule submissions and coordinate fast-track implementation with appropriate stakeholders.
