Summary: The role of Financial Accountant involves supporting the Year End process for a Local Authority client, focusing on closedown accounting tasks. The position requires the candidate to prepare and review final accounts, liaise with auditors, and provide technical accounting advice. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to contribute significantly to the existing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the Year End process
  • Working as an intermediary to explain any variance analysis
  • Preparation, reviewing, sense checking and proof reading of final accounts
  • Provision of technical accounting and possibly budgetary advice
  • Preparing adjusting journals as necessary
  • Being the main point of contact for auditors
  • Ensuring the delivery against the audit schedules and timelines

Key Skills:

  • Experience of closing accounts for a Local Authority
  • Evidence of working within the Public/Local Authority Sector
  • Development and delivery of process improvements
  • Fully qualified and registered with professional accounting qualification such as CIMA, ACCA or equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence others
  • Self-starter, experienced in supporting on year-end and liaising with auditors
  • Advanced Excel skills
