Summary: The role of Lead Azure Data Engineer involves delivering a new Azure-based reporting solution for a UK-based data consulting firm. The position requires building an end-to-end data reporting solution on Azure, integrating data from various third-party systems, and utilizing Azure Data Factory and Power BI for insights. The engineer will work both independently and collaboratively to support business projects and ensure data integrity and best practices. This is a fully remote, 6-month contract position classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building data pipelines using Azure Data Factory for data ingestion
- Managing data integration, conformity, and integrity while designing data structures for future needs
- Documenting data transformations and ensuring they follow best practices
- Collaborating with the business to support various projects and solutions
- Utilizing problem-solving skills to address challenges
- Conducting process mining to deliver solutions that meet User Stories

We're looking for a hands-on Lead Azure Data Engineer to deliver a new Azure-based reporting solution for a UK based data consulting firm.
You'll be building an end-to-end data reporting solution on Azure, pulling data from multiple third-party systems into an Azure SQL environment, transforming it with Azure Data Factory, and surfacing insights through Power BI dashboards.
How you'll spend your day
Building data pipelines using Azure data factory for data ingestion
Looking after the data integration, data conformity, data integrity and ensure the data structures are designed for future business needs and enhancements
Ensure that data transformations are well recorded and follow best practices so that it is easily understood by developers and analysts
Work directly with the business to support various projects and solutions
Using problem solving skills as challenges arise
Process mining to scope and deliver solutions that meet agreed User Stories
What you'll bring to this role
- Confident to work individually on projects as well as part of a team to support roadmap and governance processes
- Highly confident working individually with clients and with strong communication skills
- Strong business-to-technology translation skills for identifying ways to apply solutions to help customers improve performance
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Azure Data Factory/Data Lakes/Databricks
- Experience of MS Fabric highly desirable
