Summary: The role of Employment Lawyer involves providing expert legal advice and representation on various employment law matters for the London Borough Council. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice on all aspects of employment law, including policy development, TUPE, redundancy, and disciplinary matters.
  • Manage tribunal claims from pre-action through to final hearing, including advocacy.
  • Draft pleadings, legal correspondence, and reports for Committees or senior management.
  • Work closely with HR, senior officers, and external partners to resolve complex employment matters.

Key Skills:

  • A qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) with a current practising certificate.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years' post-qualification experience in employment law.
  • Strong advocacy skills with experience representing clients at hearings or tribunals.
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload independently.

Contract: 3-6 months - likely to be extended Rate: 45- 55 per hour - Negotiable DOE Remote Working

We are looking for an experienced Employment Lawyer to join our Legal Services team and provide high-quality advice and representation on a wide range of employment law matters. As an Employment Lawyer, you will deliver cost-effective, expert legal services to officers, committees, and Members. You will work on tribunal cases, employment disputes, policy advice, and support organisational change programmes, directly influencing how the Council delivers services and manages its workforce.
