Summary: The Employee Relations Advisor will serve as the primary contact for employee relations issues within a charity/not-for-profit organization, managing a caseload of around 30 cases. The role emphasizes providing pragmatic advice to both managers and employees while ensuring compliance with employment law and organizational values. This position is remote-first, allowing for flexibility and autonomy within a collaborative team environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a varied caseload of employee relations issues including disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence, and wellbeing matters.
  • Provide expert, solution-focused advice to line managers, supporting them through complex and sensitive cases.
  • Ensure all employee relations activity is legally compliant, well-documented, and aligned with organisational policies and values.
  • Identify trends and root causes in casework, contributing to proactive solutions and policy development.
  • Support organisational change initiatives such as restructures, TUPE transfers, and consultations.
  • Deliver training and coaching to managers to build confidence and capability in people management.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in an employee relations-focused HR role, ideally within the charity or not-for-profit sector.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels.
  • Comfortable managing a high-volume caseload with competing priorities.
  • CIPD qualification (or working towards) is desirable but not essential.
  • A values-driven approach with a genuine passion for supporting people and promoting fairness.
